This would sort of explain why the launcher doesn't crash when installing the game into the directory where the game files already exist, merely deletes everything except the bonus audio tracks, and starts downloading from scratch.Īnyway, I have loads of Ubisoft, Steam, and Epic games I can play that don't have these sorts of recovery issues, while I wait the 20 hours required to download Anthem again. My guess is that the game's existing manifest files are not compatible with a newer launcher version, and the launcher was incapable of generating a new manifest based on the old manifest file. only succeed giving me something to do until either the launcher resumes crashing, or the installer deletes the existing game files. The solutions posted above this comment of moving installation directories etc. Restarting Launcher on crash just loops it back to crash, and shutting down launcher and restarting launcher manually also crashes the launcher.Ĭlearing the Local Cache (C:\Program Data\Origin\LocalContent\Anthem) resolves the Launcher crash issue, until you attempt to locate files and the problem is repeated.

Locating files causes launcher to crash immediately.

Having the same drama with Anthem after replacing Windows 8.1 64-bit with Windows 10 64-bit. Origin fix this please! Anyways this is what I did yesterday and got me playing battlefield 1 FINALLY! Let me know if this works for you guys! Now that I think about it this is what I had to do before Origin implemented the "Locate Game" button. Complete the prompts, and it will start to "Initialize", and it will realize soon enough that you already have the game installed and when it's verifying the files through that method it seems not to crash. Just make sure you have the BF1 main folder as your directory for install. If it's in your Origin library you don't need to change this all. When it brings up the menu to select a download location, navigate it to where you've placed the BF1 folder.

If that works, close it.ģ) Move the BF1 folder back to your Origin library (or wherever you like), just remember the file location.Ĥ) Open Origin, and instead of "Locate Game" click the download game button. To fix this, cut and paste the BF1 folder to another location on your computer.Ģ) Verify Origin, and it shouldn't crash now that it can't verify the files. I finally got it to work after 3 hours of trying.ġ) If you've selected "Locate Game" in Origin, it will cause it to crash every time you open Origin. For anyone having the same issue, try this workaround.
